FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about starting your custom cabinetry project with Backwoods Custom LLC.

COMMON QUESTIONS
How does the custom cabinetry process work?
We start with a free consultation to discuss your space, ideas, and what you’re looking to accomplish. Once you decide to move forward, a 30% deposit secures your place in our production schedule. We then develop your custom design and provide it for review, typically within 2–3 weeks. You’ll have an opportunity to review the design and make adjustments before we begin building.
Is the initial consultation free?
Yes. Your initial consultation is free. We’ll discuss your project, space, style, and goals so we can get a clear understanding of what you’re looking to build.
Do I need to know exactly what I want before contacting you?
No. Many customers come to us with a general idea, inspiration photos, or simply a problem they want to solve. We can help develop those ideas into a custom design that works for your space and needs.
How much is the deposit?
A 30% deposit is required to move forward with your project and secure your place in our production schedule. After the deposit is received, we begin the detailed design process.
Will I see the design before my project is built?
Yes. A detailed design is typically provided for review within 2–3 weeks after your deposit. This gives you an opportunity to see the project before fabrication and request additional tweaks before the design is finalized.
Can you build custom furniture in addition to cabinetry?
Yes. While we specialize in custom cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms, and closets, we also design and build custom furniture pieces that complement your space, including built-in desks, media centers, and specialty storage.
How much work is done inside my home?
We try to keep disruption in your home to a minimum. Your cabinetry is built, painted, finished, and assembled in our shop before installation. When we arrive at your home, the majority of the work has already been completed, allowing us to focus primarily on installation and final fit.
Do you provide installation?
Yes. Providing high-quality installation is a critical part of our process. Our team handles the installation to ensure that your custom cabinetry fits perfectly and functions as intended.
How long does installation take?
Most projects can be installed in one day. Larger or more complex projects may require approximately 2–4 days. Because the majority of the building, painting, and assembly is completed in our shop, we’re able to keep the on-site portion of the project as efficient as possible.

What makes custom cabinetry different from stock cabinets?
Custom cabinetry is designed specifically for your space rather than being limited to predetermined cabinet sizes and configurations. This gives us greater flexibility with dimensions, layout, storage, finishes, and details so the finished project fits both your home and how you plan to use it.
Do you build projects other than kitchen cabinetry?
We build custom kitchens, built-ins, entertainment centers, closets, Murphy bed units, home offices, pantries, floating shelves, doors, and other custom cabinetry and woodworking projects. If you have something unique in mind, contact us to discuss the project.
How much does custom cabinetry cost?
Every project is different. Pricing depends on the size and complexity of the project, materials, finishes, hardware, and design details. Your free initial consultation allows us to better understand what you’re looking for so we can determine the scope and pricing for your project.
What should I have ready for my consultation?
You don’t need formal plans. Photos of the existing space, inspiration photos, approximate dimensions if you have them, and an idea of what you’d like to accomplish are all helpful. We’ll walk you through the rest.
Where is my cabinetry built?
Your project is built, painted, finished, and assembled in our Arizona shop before it arrives at your home. This allows us to control the quality of the build and finish while keeping cutting, assembly, painting, and other fabrication work out of your home.
